Importance of expanding fuel and energy cooperation within the «Central Asia–China» format highlighted

Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part on September 6 in the «Central Asia–China» Political Parties Dialogue held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan. During his speech, the representative of Turkmenistan noted that the «Central Asia–China» format plays an important role in developing economic relations among the countries of the region and expanding cooperation in the transport and fuel and energy sectors. This was reported on the official website of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The speech emphasized that Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is based on the legal status of permanent neutrality, recognized three times by the United Nations, and is consistently developed on the principles of mutual respect, trust and equality with the countries of the region and the People’s Republic of China. The representative of Turkmenistan stated that the country views the «Central Asia–China» format as an important mechanism for strengthening regional economic ties, expanding transport and transit opportunities, developing fuel and energy cooperation and implementing joint initiatives. The main objective of the dialogue was to strengthen at the political, public and legislative levels the agreements reached by the heads of state, as well as to further develop strategic cooperation in the “Central Asia — China” format. During the meeting held under the theme “The Role of Political Parties in Strengthening Relations between Central Asia and China”, participants noted the important role of political parties in promoting multilateral cooperation, exchanging experience and ensuring stability in the region.
